This bibliography of fiction titles is based on an article by Brian Booth, founder of Literary Arts and the Oregon Book Awards, and was first published in the OLA Quarterly, summer 1999, and re-printed here with his permission. Mr. Booth is the editor of Wildmen, Wobblies & Whistlepunks: Stewart Holbrook's Lowbrow Northwest, OSU Press, 1992.

Kesey, Ken Sometimes a Great Notion (1964) Massive tale of family conflict in an Oregon coastal town. Considered by many the greatest Northwest novel.
LeGuin, Ursula Searoad, Chronicles of Klatsand (1991) Lives of residents in a coastal community, 1890's to present.
LeGuin, Ursula Lathe of Heaven (1971) Story of a Portlander whose dreams come true.
Lesley, Craig The Sky Fisherman (1995) Compassionate story of white and Native American cultures, east of the Cascades.
Lopez, Barry River Notes: the Dance of Herons (1975) Three stories of life along a river.
Malamud, Bernard A New Life (1961) Humorous story of academia in fictional Corvallis.
Shetzline, David Heckletooth 3 (1969) Deeply moving story of loggers, a forest fire, and an out of season hunt.
