Your Library Card
A full service library card, available to anyone who lives or pays property taxes in Jackson County, entitles you to check out books, videos, talking books, music CDs, magazines, maps and pamphlets free of charge from any of our fifteen branches and Rogue Community College. Our couriers will deliver your requests to any branch you specify. It also enables you to request materials from other library systems by Interlibrary Loan. A limited service card enables you to check out just two items.

Even if you cannot produce identification with a current address at the time of registration you will be issued a limited service card which permits you to borrow two items at one time until you can complete the process to receive a full service card. A: Notify your library immediately so that your card may be voided, relieving you of responsibility for any additional materials borrowed with it. A fee of $2.00 will be charged for a replacement card. Q: How many items may I check out? A: You may check out as many items as you like if you have a full service card. Q: How long may I keep materials? A: Each loan period is three weeks, with the exception of magazines and DVD’s which can be checked out for 7 days. The loan period for Interlibrary Loan materials is determined by the lending library. Q: How much are fines for overdue materials? A: Fines are .20 per day per item with a maximum total fine of $10 per item. A: All SOLIS owned materials may be renewed for two (2) additional 21 day periods, unless another patron has placed a hold request for them with the exception of magazines and DVD’s which can be renewed for two (2) additional 7 day periods. You may renew in person or by calling any branch during library hours OR you may renew online; simply go to the Library Catalog, click on "patron account", enter your library card number and password, then click on "items out". Q: May I renew an Interlibrary Loan item? A: Interlibrary Loans may be renewed only with prior approval of the owning library. Call 541-774-6421 to renew Interlibrary Loan materials. Q: Must I return items to the branch at which I checked them out? A: You may return items to any branch in Jackson County, or to the Rogue Community College Library. Q: May I use someone else's card? A: Cards are non-transferable. You may use someone else's card ONLY if you are checking out materials on their behalf. You may be asked for the correct password. Q: What happens if I lose or damage an item? A: You will be asked to pay the replacement cost. Q: What if I don't pay overdue or Interlibrary Loan fees? A: If you accumulate overdue charges of $10.00 or more you will lose your borrowing privileges until the charges are paid. If you fail to pay the $5.00 Interlibrary Loan search fee you will not receive further Interlibrary Loan service. If overdue items are not returned within 45 days the library assumes they are lost and sends a bill which includes fines and replacement costs of the material. Unpaid accounts will be forwarded to our materials recovery agency when they are 60 days past due, and a $10 service charge wil be added to your account. Q: May children have their own library cards? A: Yes, children ages birth to 18 may have their own library cards. If they apply for a card with a parent or legal guardian present, and the parent or legal guardian shows two pieces of valid identification, they will receive a full service card. If they apply without a parent or guardian, or if their parent or guardian lacks valid identification, they will receive a limited service card. Parents may choose to limit the number of items their child can check out at a time. Alternatively, parents may choose to upgrade their children's cards to full service at any time, provided they furnish the required two forms of identification. Parents are responsible for any charges incurred on a child's card. Q: Can I check my account online to see what I have checked out or the status of my hold requests? A: Yes. Go to the Library Catalog and click on "patron account" then enter your library card number and password. If you don't remember one or both of these items, you will need to stop by your local branch with some identification so we can remind you. |
