About
No commercial booths or sales are permitted to operate during the festival. We have managed for the past 35 years to keep the atmosphere strictly commercial free. The only charge, other than the admission fee, is for food, which can be purchased during the festival's open hours. The Storytelling Guild and the American Association of University Women (AAUW) operate two food booths.
None of the performers who entertain children and adults during the festival are paid, even though many are professionals. We have no trouble recruiting just the right people to perform and they know that this festival is "for the children". All stage performances are selected for their appropriate content for an audience of children.
The success behind the Children's Festival is that the Storytelling Guild and Jackson County Library attract volunteers who believe in what the festival does for children. Volunteers understand that the festival is "for the children" and have a commitment to that end. Each person involved believes that the festival is wonderful and an important part of our community's uniqueness in the state. The Children's Festival has a broad reaching reputation around the state of Oregon and across the country as a unique and wonderful program for children, which is run strictly by volunteers. Our commitment is to our children and all honors belong to the volunteers.
