Jackson County Reads Mysteries

Jackson County Library Services announces “Jackson County Reads Mysteries,” the Jackson County Reads program for 2011. Beginning in March, community members are encouraged to read mysteries, participate in book-related activities at local libraries, and attend free topical lectures by regional and local presenters.

Events:
Weekly Mystery E-Pub Series: Beginning March 5	Clue in to the story of “Naked Came the Rogue,” an e-published serial mystery with chapters written by local authors, as part of Jackson County Library Services’ “Jackson County Reads Mysteries.” Follow the story as it unfolds weekly by reading each chapter online.

Author April Henry: March 11, 7:00-8:00 p.m. Ashland Branch March 12, 1:00-2:00 p.m. Medford Branch		Ms. Henry, New York Times bestselling author of mysteries, thrillers, and young adult novels, will present an author talk. Her latest novel, Girl Stolen, was released in the fall of 2010.

Det. Brandon Bloomfield: So. OR High Tech Crimes March 17, 4:00-5:30 p.m. Eagle Point Branch		Detective Brandon Bloomfield, a Senior Forensic Examiner with the Southern Oregon High-Tech Crimes Task Force, will discuss the Task Force’s role in crime investigation and identity theft prevention, enhancing “Jackson County Reads Mysteries” programming.

Oregon, the State of Mystery Panel Discussion March 26, 10:00 a.m. – 2 p.m. Medford Branch	Enjoy a great opportunity for individuals to get personal help with writing mysteries, how to market your books, and how to get published. Guest panelists include: Phil Messina, Tim Wohlforth, Ken Lewis, Robert Arellano, and Morgan Hunt.

Mystery Writer Donald Ball April 6, 6:30-7:30 p.m. Gold Hill Branch		Mr. Ball is the author of Toll Road, Scenic Route, and Twisted Road Home. A member of Willamette Writers, his minor interest in college was philosophy which instilled a desire to include some social comment and thoughts in his novels.

Author Carola Dunn April 14, 7:00-8:00 p.m. Ashland Branch April 16, 1:00-2:00 p.m. Medford Branch		Ms. Dunn is the author of the 18-volume Daisy Dalrymple mystery series, and has published over 50 books.
