
Jackson County Library Materials
Jackson County Libraries offer a variety of books and resources related to homeschooling. While we do not provide curriculum materials, we have many resources to help you create your own lesson plans. Reference librarians are available to assist with research on homeschooling or on curriculum areas. Contact your local library for details.

Books
Books about homeschooling may be found by using the library computer catalog. When searching from information on homeschooling try a "Subject" search for:
- Home Schooling
- Education -- Parent participation
- Education, Preschool
New homeschooling resources are added regularly. They are shelved with 649.68 in both the adult collection and the Parent Resources section in some library children's departments.
Some useful titles include:
- The First Year of Homeschooling Your Child
- Homeschooling for Success
- Homeschooling in Oregon
- Core Knowledge Series which features each elementary grade level, i.e. What Your First Grader Needs to Know: Fundamentals of a Good First-Grade Education.
- Homeschooling: take a deep breath -- you can do this!
Books are also available in academic areas, such as science, literature, history, geography, math, education, etc.

Magazines
The following Homeschooling magazines are available at these branches or they may be sent to any branch for check out:
Home Education - Medford, Gold Hill, Jacksonville, Rogue River, and Ruch.
Homeschooling Today - Central Point, White City.
JCLS also has Children's magazines with themes of geography, history, education, and science. For a list of all magazines
contact your local library.
For articles about homeschooling use EBSCO, a magazine and newspaper database available on all library computers and from home at www.jcls.org. Full-text articles are available from many of the 2,500 publications indexed, including Time, Education Week, Parenting, Reading Teacher, etc. To access EBSCO from the website, select “Databases,” select “EBSCO”, select “MasterFILE” and put in your search topic.

Library Policy
The Jackson County Library policy which guides the selections of library materials states: " The public library does not serve as a curriculum materials resource, but rather functions to provide supplemental and enrichment materials for the children of Jackson County. "
