InternetInternet Safety

All Jackson County Libraries have internet workstations for public use. The Internet offers access to a wealth of material. Jackson County Library has no control over Internet resources, nor does the library have complete knowledge of what is on the Internet. The Internet and its resources are always changing. As with other library materials, restriction of a child's access to the Internet is the responsibility of the parent or legal guardian.

A filtered workstation is available in each branch library. The filter's purpose is to block access to sites that patrons may find objectionable for themselves or their children, such as those containing extreme violence, explicit sexuality, or offensive language. No filter can guarantee total success in this objective. We encourage parents to be involved in their children's use of the Internet. The filtering software may sometimes block non-objectionable sites, and if this occurs, you may wish to move to a non-filtered workstation. Please contact your local branch library with questions regarding internet use.
