Babies & Wobblers in the Library
Jackson County Library Services is pleased to announce six new Babies in the Library programs. These programs are for prewalking babies (0-12 months) accompanied by a caring adult. Siblings are welcome, as are moms, dads, grandparents, caregivers, etc.
Each session of Babies in the Library will focus on a different early literacy skill such as rhyming, repetition, reading aloud, and oral language. All of these skills are taught within a thirty-minute storytime of songs, bounces, and reading, followed by a half-hour of play and chat time. Duplicate copies of the books read during storytime will be available so each participant may check out storytime books to read with their baby at home.
Wobblers, the next step after Babies in the Library, is for babies, ages 12-36 months, who are not quite ready to sit through the preschool storytime.
Some branches offer a Babies and Wobblers combined program tailored for smaller groups.
Toddlers, the second step is a storytime for toddlers, ages 24-36 months, who enjoy sitting on laps for stories.
Babies in the Library is sponsored by Jackson County Library Services and funded in part through the Oregon Ready to Read Grant.
